Growth Mindset
I have just watched some video's about growth mindset by Carol Dweck and I have to say that she is a brilliant speaker and I learned quite a bit about what a growth mindset is! It was my first time hearing about it this specifically, I've had my own personal idea on different mindsets one can have in relation to growing but found the way Carol explain it to tie everything together perfectly.
So basically what is a growth mindset? It's a mindset based off growing and taking challenges head on, focused on the process rather than the final outcome. The opposite would be a fixed mindset where one is focused the final outcome and is that is good, one is happy with that and doesn't seek improvement, while if the outcome is bad, then one would start to look at the downside of the situation and think they can never get back up or come to a resolution.
Here's a great image of what someone with a growth mindset would be like:
Another thing that I found really interesting from what Carol Dweck was saying, was saying Not Yet. That even if you fail at something or it doesn't go the way you want it to, instead of saying it's over, no way to get better, say not yet instead. This means that even though it didn't work out now, you can still work on it and get it next time and on and on. It's the idea of not giving up and continuing to challenge yourself until you come out with successful outcomes and then straight to the next problem.
I feel like I really have to apply this Not Yet idea to my own personal life more as sometimes I feel I give up on things too early if it seems though or it didn't work the first time. I can definitely see the importance or staying in a growth mindset and why being in a fixed mindset can get you nowhere.
