Review Week Comments and Feedback

Reading through the feedback I have received through my blog comments I am quite happy and there is a lot of good quality in them! I find the comments that make me question more aspects of my game and also give me ideas. Reading through the comments I was inspired to add some things to my game like changing it up from subway surfers with a storm/tornado theme while also making the game winnable instead of just a high score. I also found it interesting that a few people are making a similar endless runner game and I'm happy to hear that some of the links and resources I've posted in my blog was helpful to them :)

When it comes to me giving out feedback I believe I've done well so far and gave useful feedback. I really enjoy using the TAG method to give feedback where I tell, ask and give. I find it to be a great method as I can first appreciate something my colleagues have made and then also make them question aspects of their game and maybe give them an idea which I personally find helpful too. I'm also intrigued when I go through other people's blogs as they all come in different styles and it's interesting to see everyone's creative way in designing or writing their blogs.

I do feel like I get to know people more through reading and commenting each others blogs. I feel like it's a great way to get to know the students in the course that I don't interact with as much or haven't at all so far. I really like the introduction posts as well as it definitely helps in getting to know someone or some of the things they like and I enjoy finding similarities. I'm also quite happy with my introduction post and my blog overall and hope people can get to know me more through reading my blog!

Looking forward I think a way I can further improve in giving feedback is to also comment some resources or links if I know or have some that might relate to that persons game. I also want to continue using the TAG method in commenting while also making myself available if someone needs help in an area that I'm knowledgeable in. In terms of my actual blog I want to do some of the tech tips so that I can improve the look of my blog. I haven't given it too much effort so far and have kept it very simple but I'd want to make it look nicer.

Hi all! Just want to write an introduction to who I am and a few things about me. College Life  One of my favorite classes that I took last year was Website Development. I found it enjoyable and interesting to learn all about developing websites from scratch using HTML and CSS. I put my time and effort in and feel like I came out of the module with some good Websites. I feel like this year, while in my 2nd year of this course, I will really enjoy Website Design as I'll learn more about building websites and add on to what I know already. Game Idea Research

  (image of 3 characters  from subway surfers,  source ) For my game idea I will stick to a game that is similar to how subway surfers is. I've played a lot of Subway Surfers when I was younger and am well accustomed to their game mechanics and would like to try to make something similar. The first game mechanic that I would like to have is to make or generate an endless track that only stops when the player hits an object and losses for example. This would mean that I don't have to make each individual part of the track and only a frame for it. A second game mechanic that I would like to have are obstacles and objects that the character has to avoid. These can come in many shapes or forms such as objects you just have to dodge, ones that you can jump over and possibly some that you can slide under if I can figure out a way to make the player slide. Prototype

  (image of character pack on unity,  source ) This week I started on my prototype and I first went looking for some assets I could use in my game. I found the above free character pack in unity which also includes the animations I need for the game like running and jumping. I also looked for a map that I can keep repeating in the game. I found something which works but I'm not sure if it will be my final map I use for the game. It is found at this  link . Another thing I found in the asset store was an Endless Runner sample game that is completed and I got that asset so I can use it as a point of inspiration and help if I get stuck in the future. The game asset is found at this  link . I then wanted to focus on my player movements and I found a tutorial that went over the movements of a character in an endless runner.
